About RGN

Welcome to Retro Game News a new website setup for gamers who are interested in retro video and computer games. This website is still changing, with more content being added constantly. It consists of three main sections – the main page, the news blog and the online web store. However some more sections have now been added such as “Online Resources”, our “Contact Us” page and the “Retro Journal”. The website is going through an exciting phase as it has now grown from a bare bones website into a more fulfilling experience for retro gamers to enjoy. The webstore has just been established and we had about 1000 site visitors and are now actively encouraging user participation via social media (our YouTube channel), the comments section and the contact form. We wish you an enjoyable visit and hope to hear from you soon. Below you will find a brief overview and explanation for the website’s main sections. Long Live Retro Video and Computer Gaming!

MAIN PAGE

This is what you see when you visit the website from it’s URL www.retrogame.news/ It is the the website’s main interface where, at a glance, you can see the latest news in the form of blog posts as well as trending and popular posts. All recent site activity is visible from this page so you are informed from the moment you navigate to this page. Underneath the main slider showing recent activity you will see a section showing every single news headline listed for every month starting with April.

News Blog

When you click on a post from the main page you will be taken to the news blog part of the website. From here you can easily see all the articles that have been posted organized by date, categories and tags. Feel free to browse through the latest and past news about the discoveries and developments that have occurred in the fascinating world of retro video and computer gaming. You can leave comments on the posts you see as well as share interesting articles to your favorite social media platforms.

When you click on almost any page (not the main page or webstore) including blog posts, online resources and this “About RGN” webpage you will see a side bar menu to the left of the page content. At the top of the bar there are some social media links that link you to my Gravatar page and the RGN YouTube channel. Underneath that you will see a new feature called “Video Game Spotlight” showing a screenshot and information on a retro game which is updated and changed to a different game in the middle of every month.

Keep scrolling lower down the page and you will see a menu showing the most recent comments on the news blog posts which I encourage you to read and respond too. Further down the side bar is yet another new feature called “Hardware Spolight” which features a piece retro gaming hardware or console that you can read about. In our very first Video Game Spotlight you can read about Cyber Citizen Shockman a new Super Nintendo game released last year. In the first “Hardware Spotlight” you will find out about the ModRetro Chromatic 1st Edition a brand new, premium FPGA GameBoy that was released late last year and has already sold out. It’s launch caused some big waves in the retro gaming community.

Online Web-Store

The webstore has been officially launched as of April 27th 2025! At the moment we are stocking some Sony PlayStation 3 games, the titles we stock are nothing but the highest quality games that the PS3 has to offer. We have one rare import, used but in excellent condition and complete. The other game is brand new and sealed and is an absolute banger, guaranteed to scratch that retro itch! In the near future we will stock products that are useful and interesting to retro video and computer gamers. We are located in Australia and at the moment we only post within Australia, but we will soon setup international shipping options. Rest assured postage costs will be kept as a minimum without compromising on safe and secure packaging.

Some of the products that you can look forward to seeing in the near future are more games for the Sony PS3 both brand new high quality games and also second hand rare imported games from Asia and Japan, with English versions being sourced when possible. We are also looking at selling brand new ModRetro games, as well as GameBoy, Gameboy Color, Nintendo NES and Sega Mega Drive homebrew games. Additionally I’m hoping to secure stocks of some Hyperkin Hyper Click Retro Style Mouse’s for Super Nintendo as well as plastic game box protectors for your favorite retro video game consoles. Hopefully I’ll be able to acquire some high quality aftermarket controllers from Hyperkin and Retrobit. A cool bit of retro gaming merchandise that I’m sure a lot you will appreciate is the Hot Wheels Plumber Van toy car from the Super Mario Bros movie will also be in stock soon.

Every single item that is sold in the shop will be of a high quality standard. I will not sell any product that I would not use myself as an enthusiast gamer. Quality is very important and cheaply made products will not make the grade. Each product that I sell is thoroughly researched to ensure it’s of high quality and fit for purpose, therefore the buyer can be assured they are purchasing a good product. Please use the website’s “Contact Us” form if there are any items you wish to see in our store to be able to purchase in the future.

This is an exciting time for our website with the launch of our new webstore and I encourage all website visitors to have a browse of our current products and if possible leave some feedback on what items we should stock to best serve your current and future retro gaming needs. We love to hear from our visitors and no form of contact will go without a timely response unlike many other gaming websites who all too frequently ignore the feedback, comments and questions received from their own visitors.

Retro Journal

This section of the Retro Game News is a basically a snapshot of my most current retro video and computer gaming activity. It’s a good page to visit if you are wondering what game you should play next or what upcoming game releases are worth looking forward to. By reading this part of the website you can get a good idea of the type of gamer I am by seeing the genre’s I like to play, the video game system’s that I prefer, what game’s I’ve finished recently and so forth. Currently this section is still under development so it will very likely change in the future and more than likely will also be expanded on. At the moment it’s split into three parts – games I’ve finished, games I’m playing and un-released games that I’m looking forward to.
