RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #008: 20th January 2026
Greetings retro gamers 👋
This is a small website update, but an important one that needs to be disclosed. RetroGame.News now uses affiliate links on some articles.
This means that when a product link is marked as an affiliate link, RetroGame.News may earn a small commission if a purchase is made — at no additional cost to the reader. Affiliate links help support the ongoing running costs of the site and allow me to continue producing independent retro gaming coverage. Editorial opinions remain my own.
So don’t be surprised if you start seeing links to products on the website from time to time. We are currently partnered with Todo Consolas and ModRetro, and will likely pick up additional partners in the future.
That's all for now. Stay retro everyone.

RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #008: 1st January 2026
Happy New Year to all RGN's readers! 🎆🎇🎈
I hope that all of you have had a great 2025 and have achieved all the retro video gaming and collecting goals that you had for the year. I wish that you all have an awesome 2026 and get a new fresh start if your 2025 wasn't the best. There are a lot of retro video games and hardware to look forward to this year. Here is a list of what is (hopefully) coming out this year: Cronela's Mansion (NES, SNES, GBC, GBA & PC), Urb-X Warriors (Spectrum Next), Doom (enhanced, with rumble) (SNES), Spectrum Next (please!!) and Vectrex Mini.
Some of the game's listed were promised last year which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that they will be released this year. Like Cronela's Mansion which was supposed to be released in November 2025 but there has not even been a single update on Kickstarter since the promised release date. The other big one is the Spectrum Next which many people were looking forward to coming out in December 2025 and now they are saying March 2026, but in reality who knows when it will come out. The previous kickstarter's had been delayed by years so if past performance is anything to go by then it's unlikely we will see it this year.
Moving onto the website, unfortunately we weren't able to keep up our standard of publishing 7-8 articles in December. It was an extremely busy time of year so a lot of productive days were wasted as holidays, but we all need a break even webmasters. This year we will do our best to expand https://RetroGame.News/ even more, adding in more sections and more great retro gaming content. We are also going to try to create more YouTube videos, adding game and hardware reviews to our channel content. Another thing I am going to try and dedicate more time to is the Retro Game Industries game being developed for GBC: SeaTropilis. It's currently at build v0.020 and so close to the stage were battles will finally be introduced. Perhaps by build v0.025 it will be at the stage where a demo complete with battles is available for download. Thank you to everyone that has downloaded the game and checked it out, it's been a lot of work just to get it to that stage.
The webstore will be getting some new stock soon: more copies of Retro City Rampage DX (PS3) as well as copies of Shakedown Hawaii (PS3) will also be available. These are perhaps the only homebrew/indie games that are available on the PS3. All copies are brand new and sealed, they are great games and make an excellent addition to a retro gamer's PS3 collection. You are unlikely to find these games at cashies and they are brand new so they will really make you collection next level. We also hope to have some more hardware stock available and there may be some other surprises in the future too. It's likely a subscription newsletter will start soon to keep you informed of RGN's activity regularly by email.
Stay retro ya'll

RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #007: 14th December 2025
I’ve just realised that quite some time has passed since my last journal entry for RetroGame.News. Initially, I planned to post these updates monthly, but I’ve been busy trying to publish enough interesting and engaging articles for the site each month. On top of that, I’ve been planning and adding new content, as well as updating various sections such as the game and hardware spotlights.
In short, the website has grown significantly and now requires a surprising amount of time and effort to maintain and keep up to date. I also have a game development project that I work on whenever I can find the spare time — which, admittedly, isn’t often. RetroGame.News is currently run by just one person: myself, X-Avy. As you can imagine, that’s a lot of work for a single individual.
That said, around 5,000 people now visit the website each month, and I sincerely hope some of you are finding value in the content. If you are one of those readers, I humbly ask that you consider supporting the site in any way you can. Running RetroGame.News on my own is challenging, especially while the site still generates little to no income.
So, dear reader, I come to you asking for support. If RetroGame.News has value to you, please consider contributing in a way that feels proportional to the value you receive. There are many ways to help:
* Make a donation via the coffee icon in the bottom-right corner
* Make a purchase from the online store, which now ships internationally
* Help build the RGN community by commenting on posts or reaching out with content ideas
* Share RGN links with friends or on social media
* Support our sister channels, including the RGN YouTube channel
Any and all support helps this fledgling retro gaming website survive and continue serving the retro gaming community. The modern internet is not particularly friendly to small, independent sites like this one. Much retro gaming content has been condensed into a handful of large platforms and social channels that often feel devoid of personality and soul. Your support helps preserve a little of the magic of the ’90s and early 2000s — a time when the internet was shaped by countless small, independent websites, each with their own character.
Alright — that’s enough begging. I’ll put my upside-down hat away now.
There’s also some website news I haven’t mentioned in previous entries. Firstly, RGN has begun development of a Game Boy Color game called SeaTropilis, which is available to download on my itch.io page. The site’s top navigation menu has expanded and now spans two lines, reflecting the growth of new sections. Several of these relate to the webstore and provide important customer information regarding shipping, refunds, and policies.
There is also a new Trivia section offering fun and interesting content focused on gaming lore and nostalgic anecdotes. The Retro Journal section has been significantly updated as well, acting as a personal record of my own gaming experiences. Whenever I finish a game or add something new to my collection, I update that page. It’s a great place to visit if you’re bored or looking for ideas on what to play next, or if you’re seeking inspiration for your own collection. I’ve also been meaning to update the Online Resources section for some time now, but I haven’t quite gotten around to it yet.
As the year draws to a close, it’s hard not to notice the disappointment surrounding several hardware and software projects that have been delayed into next year. Because of this, many gamers may find their Christmas less retro-filled than they had hoped. Here’s hoping that 2026 sees these delayed projects finally come to fruition and deliver the joy they promised.
Enjoy your Christmas, dear readers ✨
Have fun, be kind to your friends and family, and above all — stay retro! 😎

RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #006: 9th October 2025
It's already October I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. Is it just me or does time seem to be moving very rapidly these days? I initially intended to do journal updates every month but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Running a website and creating new content is far more time consuming then I initially thought and so I don't think I will be attempting to do journal updates very month. To be honest it's difficult enough to create a reasonable amount of news articles each month. That is the main focus on this website and so I have committed myself to creating at least 7-8 news articles each month or about 2 per week. Speaking of which I am already behind this month with no articles for October so far. But I will fix that shortly. With regards to website updates there are a few things that I would like to report. Firstly the website has become well established on the Google search engine and we are getting close to 100 clicks a month from Google. The website has gotten around 800 visitors in some of the most busiest weeks. Funds from advertising are starting to increase but are still very, very low. Far too low to even be close to paying out.
In other news we have just received stock of "Luft Gears" a Game Boy DMG homebrew game from Spain which I have been writing about recently. The game is now available for purchase in our web store however like all other products, it's only available to purchase within Australia. If you are from another country and would like to purchase this game then please get in contact with me, using the website's contact page and I should be able to sort you out with a custom Paypal link so you can make the purchase. We are looking into stocking more homebrew games in the future so keep an eye on the website news pages for updates. If you have any suggestions for games that you would like to see for sale please let me know, especially if you are an Australian customer.
As it's nearing the end of the year there are several exciting projects that should be coming to fruition soon. The most exciting of which is the ZX Spectrum Next 3rd kickstarter model which is only a month or two away from being shipped. They have recently announced that the latest revision will now have 4 MB RAM instead of the 2 MB that the earlier models have. Additionally new cores are now supported including Commodore 64 and the rare Sam Coupe microcomputer. The other really exciting project that is supposed to be getting released in November is the much anticipated Cronela's Mansion. However none of the six or so versions have been completed yet. I believe Straynus is focusing on getting the NES version completed first, which is going to be the definitive version. That being said once it's completed the other versions will get completed in quick succession as they will be able to use the assets from the NES version. It's highly unlikely this will be done by the end of November so expect a delayed release date.
That's all I will talk about in this journal entry otherwise I will have no content to write about in October's articles. Speaking of which you can expect some articles to start materializing very soon as we are into the second week of the month and I still haven't wrote an article but I will pull my finger out and fix this very soon, likely putting out two or three articles in quick succession to attempt to catch up.

RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #005: Games of June and July 2025
Apologies dear readers, I've gotten a bit behind with the RGN journal entry updates, it's not that easy to fully maintain a news websites on your own. This is evident by the drop in the number of articles that have been produced after the first month. I somehow managed to pump out a lot of news articles in April but I have realized it's not practical to do that every month. With enough financial support it would of course be possible but we are still quite a ways away from monetization. I really hope that it will be realized in the future as I have ambitions for this website to grow much bigger. Anyway I'll talk more about this in another journal entry, for now let's find out what games we have looked at from June to July.
* Cronela's Mansion (Nintendo NES, Super NES, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance) [Homebrew, In Development]
* Doom (SNES re-release) (Super NES) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* Earthquake (Atari 2600) [Prototype, Unreleased]
* First Contact Protocol (Gameboy Color) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* Gravitorque DX (Gameboy Color) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* Luft Gears (Gameboy DMG) [Homebrew]
* Jurassic Park (Mega CD) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Millipede (Atari 2600) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Nobelia (Philips CD-i) [Homebrew]
* Paprium (Sega Mega Drive) [Homebrew, Unreleased]
* Pengo (Atari 5200) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Pine Creek (Gameboy Color) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* Pocketbook Stories: The Unknown Forest (Super NES Satellaview) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Raider's of the Lost Ark (Atari 2600) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Sabrina: Zapped (Gameboy Color) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Self Simulated (Gameboy Color) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* SkyRoads (DOS PC) [Licensed, LCR Distribution, Re-make]
* SkyWays (Philips CD-i) [Homebrew, In Development]
* Starflight (Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, IBM PC, Sega Mega Drive) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Star Control (Amiga, Commodore 64, DOS PC, Sega Mega Drive, ZX Spectrum) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Super Family Gelande (Super NES Satellaview) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Tetris (Gameboy DMG) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Virtua Racing (Sega Mega Drive) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Wicked Plague (Gameboy Color) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* Yume Nikki (Windows PC / Steam) [Homebrew, Official Release]
* Yume Tenshi (Gameboy Color) [Homebrew]
That's a fair list right there. I'm not sure how sustainable it will be to do this every month as it's going to end up being a very, very long list. The intention behind this is to give people idea's for what good games are out there to play, especially for people who are new to retro gaming and maybe haven't heard of a lot of these games. Many of us retro gaming veterans already know about most of these titles, minus the homebrew games as there are just too many to keep track of. I think when this page get's too long I will archive the entries that way I can keep doing this every month.

RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #004: Games of May 2025

* Boku no Natsuyasumi 2 (Sony PS2) [Translation Patch]
* Railfan: Taiwan High Speed Rail (Sony PS3) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Railfan: Chicago Transit Authority Brown Line (Sony PS3) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Afrika / Hakuna Matata (Sony PS3) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Aquanauts Holiday: Kakusareta Kiroku (Sony PS3) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Sutte Hakkun (Super NES) [Licensed, Official Release, Import]
* Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (Sony PS1) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Metal Slader Glory: Director’s Cut (Super NES) [Translation Patch]
* Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure! (Nintendo GameCube) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Tetris (ModRetro Chromatic) [Licensed, Official Release]

* The Bagman (Sega Mega Drive) [Homebrew, In Development]
* Sacred Line (Sega Mega Drive) [Homebrew]
* Comix Zone (Sega Mega Drive) [Licensed, Official Release]
* Clock Tower (Super NES) [Licensed, Translation Patch]
So there hasn't been nearly as many games as the first month, so games have been repeated but it shows you which games are good. At least readers should not be bored as there is quite a list of games to work through here. May is already gone though and we need to have a look at the games of June now.

RGN WebSite News Journal Entry #003: 8th June 2025
RGN Monthly News: May 2025
Hello all Retro Game News regular readers and visitors. We have made it to our third month which means that we have been in operation a full two months. In that period I went from nothing to a website domain to a very busy looking website front with 12 published webpages linked at the menu at the top. The webpages include a webstore and it's necessary pages needed to function like: cart, checkout, my account and shop. The other pages have been created from the ground up to be useful permeant resource pages that will be continually added to all the time. This includes pages like the retro gaming journal, online web resources, a contact page so you can communicate with us, there's a guestbook for fun and an archive of website content that no-longer has a place on the website. I encourage you to explore all these sections of the website as there is quite a lot of content there and you can find a lot of useful information there too.
Lot's of website expansion has occurred during the month. We have had new products added to the store and payment has been made easier being able to accept Paypal and GooglePay as well as standard credit card payments. Shipping is still only possible within Australia for the time being, we are working to make shipping available to the USA and Europe. If you do live in Australia then I encourage you to support a local small business by purchasing a quality product from our webstore. We have got a few more products in and expanded our range to other consoles so please have a look there may be something you need. We have more new old stock in the form of a Sega Mega Drive game, we also have an aftermarket controller for the Super Nintendo which brings our total product range to five products.
Our visitor count is still hovering around one thousand visitor per month with our most successful day being the 16th of May when we received 180 visitors. Things have been up and down since then however we have only just recently been indexed by Google so it will take a little bit of time for the exposure to take effect. We are focusing on creating more content in the form of news blog posts, regularly to entice readers to come back to the website to see what is news in retro gaming. Because we don't use Facebook or Instagram or other popular social media platforms our growth may be a bit slower then it could be but regardless we continue. Some revenue from advertising has started to trickle in, just a few cents here and there but it's a start and it will obviously grow as more people come to the website. I have also put up a donation button: in the bottom right corner a purple coffee cup icon allows supporters to donate to the website. The AdBlade ads have had many impressions but no clicks and haven't earned a cent, I'm considering removing AdBlade in favor of Google AdSense so that ad space can go to good use.
You'll notice on the main page some of the previously mono-colored buttons have gone chromatic! I have decided to highlight feature articles which are any news blog posts that aren't just standard news. The blue colored buttons indicate feature articles such as top 10 game or hardware lists, the red buttons are for the monthly round-up articles and the green ones are game reviews. You can access all the feature articles by clicking the "feature" tab on the menu on the main page that also has tabs for "popular" and "latest". There have been less news articles during the month of May however a lot of work had been put in other areas of the website and the depth and quality of the articles created has been higher especially with all the feature articles. This month I also discovered that a friend I know in person has a very successful YouTube channel on retro gaming, specializing in technical and electronic tutorial kind of videos. I'll link his channel in the resources section soon. The RGN YouTube channel also had a couple new videos showing gameplay on a couple new and upcoming retro games. I'll talk about the games of May in the next journal entry.
Thank you for reading and for your continued support, gamers. Long Live Retro Gaming!

RGN Monthly News: May 2025
Hello all Retro Game News regular readers and visitors.
Welcome to Retro Game News first monthly news post. This is an unofficial post that you will only see on this part of the website and possibly in an archive sometime later down the track. A lot of work has been put into the first month of this website as it's gone from nothing to ... something! I'm quite happy with how much it's grown even if user interaction is starting off a bit slow. It's still early days as we have only had just over one thousand visitors since this website has opened. In the short month that we have been operating we already have a YouTube channel with 6 videos of rare retro video game footage and assets including a playthrough of the only known Japanese CD-i game to come to light. Please visit our YouTube channel through one of the many links on the website including just below which you can see a feed of 4 recently uploaded videos. Don't forget to support our channel by clicking the "Like, Subscribe and Leave a Comment" buttons.
Retro Game News also has opened up an online webstore way ahead of schedule. I was able to source some excellent Sony PlayStation 3 games that would make any PS3 collector salivate. Just below you can find a feed to our webstore's range of games, which is currently only two however our range will be increased every time we make profit from sales more stock will be purchased to be put in the webstore. So if you are a Sony PS3 collector and interested in these games which are exceedingly rare in Australia then please visit our store and see how we can help add some excellent games to your collection. The two games that I've managed to get for our store in April are Retro City Rampage DX - a brilliant GTA inspired 8-bit de-make for the PS3! Also the rare photography game released in very limited quantities for the English versions - Akuna Matata (a.k.a Afrika) is also up for sale in complete, working condition. Both games have been imported and have been priced accordingly, the good news is that you only need to pay for local postage to get the game to you.
Soon there will be some advertisements (hopefully) put up around the website to try make some revenue to pay for domain and email hosting and some of our business expenses as we have got approval from Adblade an advertising marketing agency to be able to host ads. If you are a reader may I please ask that when you see the ads you click on them and not use an ad blocker by whitelisting our site to try help us out a bit. If you would like to donate to help keep this website alive you can find donations are currently available through cryptocurrency if you go to the Gravatar social media icon.
The highlights in April 2025 have been the launch of RGN, the RGN YouTube Channel, the RGN online webstore, Cronella's Mansion kickstarter campaign ending with late pledges still currently being accepted, Farming Simulator 16-bit is now nearly out of pre-orders for the green FS16bit Sega Mega Drive release which will start being shipped out mid-May, Nike Low Poly 1 Big Head Mode GoldenEye 007-inspired sneakers were released onto an unsuspecting public that threw bags of money at Nike in order to secure a pair, we found out about the ModRetro Chromatic which sold out completely except for the GameStop edition (RGN obtained an 'Inferno' color Chromatic - hooray for us!), we also learned about Super Tilt Bros. a wi-fi game for real NES hardware and finally we looked at the top 10 Sony PS3 game imports to add to your collection. That is a lot of things that have happened just in the first month of operation. I'm very excited as the future is looking very bright for Retro Game News. I hope to get more comments and user interaction, hopefully more likes and subscribes on YouTube and comments on the website.
Thank you for reading and for your continued support, gamers. Long Live Retro Gaming!
