Project Renaissance

A new replacement analogue stick for the Nintendo 64 controller has just been released and made available for purchase. The analogue stick replacement is sold under the name “Project Renaissance” and is known as “the Renaissance Stick”. This is made to be a high-end replacement for the original plastic analogue stick made from premium materials that don’t wear out. It is also made to have superior performance and accuracy to the original stick and can also be customized and adjusted for fine tuning so the performance can be optimized. The quality is top shelf so it’s not a very economical option unless you are someone who goes through a lot of analogue sticks on Nintendo 64 controllers. Speed-runners for example may go through several joysticks per year so for that kind of use this upgrade would make sense. If you are a casual gamer that only fires up the Nintendo 64 every now and then you may never even need to replace the analogue stick on your controller. However if you are a serious gamer who wants a controller with the best feel and responsiveness then this may be for you.

A New Renaissance Age in Nintendo 64 Gaming

When the Renaissance Stick is installed and calibrated you will never have trouble with the analogue stick again. The parts used are mostly metal, most notably the actual stick giving it heavy, tactile premium feel to it. A little bit of grease is applied when it’s installed to ensure movement is smooth and frictionless. The parts that rub against each other are not plastic, so unlike the original analogue stick there is no plastic dust buildup on the inside of the stick. It will never need replacing but after a long period of heavy use may require a bit of adjustment or recalibration but only after a very long time. The majority of users who aren’t speed-runner or some sort of professional who games on the Nintendo 64 for many hours every single day should never have any problems after installation.

The Renaissance Stick comes in kit form and includes the parts that you need to replace the standard plastic analogue stick from the Nintendo 64 controller. A few parts from the plastic analogue stick on the controller are required to be used when assembling the Renaissance Stick. However most of the parts used are the brand new parts that replace the old, worn out parts of the original analogue stick.  The standard controller analogue stick over time builds up plastic dust on the inside from constant abrasion. Over time this speeds up the rate and intensity of wear and eventually results in the analogue stick becoming loose and losing accuracy and responsiveness. Over time the wear on the stick get’s to a level where gameplay is severely affected to the point that it’s very noticeable and will start to annoy the player. This aftermarket analogue stick is specifically designed to eliminate these issues.
